Empowered women, empower women.

Yes, my blogging fingers are back from a too long hiatus. Oh how I always miss being able to catch up with you. For the past few months I have been battling my own inner demons – Am I on the right path? Am I good enough as a boss babe? Why am I doing any of this? Can I truly make a difference in all this world of noise? And the list goes on. So what does this creative ‘entrepreneur’ do? Well I dusted myself off and started answering those very same revolving questions— hell yea, I am good enough and can do great things— my ‘Why‘ or reason for doing any of this can make the biggest difference to many other women of colour in this world. (With my heart pound heavily in my chest) I am now shouting “black brides represent!” But, what is all this excitement about you might ask.

Designing stationery is what I have been most passionate about. Like so many other paper crafters and hand-letterers, I am a ‘pretty’ paper, fine-liner, marker, clear stamp, ribbon lover. But added to that, I am a mom, a wife and a woman— a bold, laugh out loud, full of grace, coily haired, brilliant and beautiful black woman!

And so, remains my question from before. My ‘Why‘ am I doing this? What is my purpose? To inspire black beautiful brides, and fellow women of colour who feel abated or undervalued in an industry that is full of wedding magazine covers that “do not look like me”— a melanin queen.

Refreshed and with eyes wide open, my mission is to inspire other women of colour to find the perfect balance of beauty, cultural pride and a peace of mind while offering a thoughtful custom experience. Each day is a gift and a chance to love ourselves, be bold and find happiness in loving others. My stationery and design game is changing to reflect this purpose. I am learning and growing in the process, so there are a lot of new things I look forward to sharing with you as you journey along with me. I hope to inspire you through my creative and stylistic efforts as one of a small handful of creative women of colour in the wedding industry. As there is a lot of room for brides of colour to represent and be represented.

I am super excited about the love stories that we will share and the chance to be a part of something so beautiful, a sisterhood of black, beautiful, women of culture and style. “Best friends are one soul in two bodies.” I married my high school sweetheart, and best friend. Sounds cliché, but he truly is my heart. He is my biggest supporter and has been cheering me on from the first day to this moment. I love our love story that continues to this day. I will share it sometime with you (it’s quite a good one with the best laughs, so be prepared…) for now here is snapshot of our day almost 10 yrs ago. 🙂

Look forward to hearing your beautiful, black bride love stories. Thanks for hanging out with me!
